Are you RESISTING or PURSUING Purpose?
How do you know when you’re operating in purpose?
- You love what you’re doing regardless of and in spite of ANYTHING!
- Opportunities find you often.
- It gives you Joy.
I never considered being a Fashion Designer, despite having an innate love for fashion since I was a small child. I styled people and myself for years (for FREE) and I still ignored the idea of pursuing fashion design. I’ve even drawn and thought of tons of designs over the years and yet I still ignored the idea of actually pursuing fashion design. People always assumed and asked me if I majored in fashion when I was in college at Mississippi State but I “happily” told them “No, I’m a communications major.” I had my plan but I thank God daily for His.

God knew I was finally in a place of surrender and that I'd be ready to appreciate and cultivate my purpose, His plan for my life.
I knew Fashion Design was my thing when I’d create something and never factored in the price of it. I was more excited about making the garment than how much I’d make from it. My joy comes from seeing the look on my clients’ or the audiences’ faces. The reactions and the finished product is what keeps me going when I’m in the design and sewing process. Sometimes I have to fight with machine, fight with the fabric and fight with the voices in my mind but I keep on going no matter what. I aim to serve and over satisfy each of my clients, that is the love and the perfectionist inside me. I find God moving faster than me pretty often, stretching me and challenging my skills. It amazes me at how many opportunities have come and continue to come my direction even when I’m not looking. It’s like God and I are a team, He sends me the opportunities and I make sure the work gets done, with His help of course.
Team up with God. Ask Him for direction and He’ll lead you to your purpose. What is the one thing people come to you for and it comes easily for you do? Is it cooking; Is it writing papers; Is it curling/styling hair; Is it advice; Is it event planning? What is the one thing you love to do, even if nobody paid you? That just might be your purpose. Are you doing what I did for years and Resisting YOUR Purpose? If you’re reading this, it just may be time for you to take a leap of faith..
